Having a lean-to-normal body weight before pregnancy boost your chances of giving birth vaginally. A study has found that the lower a woman’s pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI), the less likely she is to undergo a Cesarean. Only 9.3 percent of women with a BMI of 15 –
which is decidedly underweight – had C-sections; the percentage more than tripled when women were very obese.
